  • Providing resource information on key legislative issues and economic conferences;
  • Having access to state and regional economic data;
  • Monitoring federal land issues affecting minerals, oil and gas, trona and agriculture;
  • Organizing the Wyoming Forum in November and Economic Outlook forum in the Spring;
  • Preparing News Releases, Guest Editorials and Letters to the Editor;
  • Networking continually with 18 state trade associations; and
  • Managing Leadership Wyoming, a partnership between the Wyoming Heritage Foundation and the University of Wyoming.
  • History

    Founded in 1979 to promote Wyoming's economy, the Wyoming Heritage Society and the Wyoming Heritage Foundation initially focused on federal land issues challenging basic industry development in Wyoming:  mining, timbering, tourism, oil and gas, and ranching and agriculture.

    Once Heritage's base membership and identity were established, Heritage began to focus aggressively on both Wyoming's traditional industries and economic diversification.  Between 1986 and 1998, Annual Public Forums began to involve national speakers; a weekly radio commentary was established to speak on business issues; targeted problem solving and opportunity taking mini-forums on the economy; telecommunications and health care were organized; an active lobbying presence with the state legislature was established; and Heritage's leadership paved the way for such Wyoming successes as the $1 billion Kern River Natural Gas Pipeline in 1998-90, the creation of the Wyoming Business Council in 1998 and establishment of the Wyoming Energy Commission in 2001.

    Now known as the Wyoming Business Alliance/Wyoming Heritage Foundation, our mission is to Continue Wyoming's Economic Heritage as Wyoming's leading private sector advocate for business and to assist in building a balanced and growing economy.
